Gov. Ned Lamont, in a ceremony at the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum.
“The people of Ridgefield have long appreciated the abundance of arts and culture in town,” stated Rudy Marconi, First Selectman of the Town of Ridgefield. “We are thrilled that the state also recognizes all that Ridgefield has to offer, by giving us the first Cultural District designation.”

ACT (A Contemporary Theatre) of Connecticut is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) professional theatre located in Ridgefield, CT. ACT of CT presents limited engagement runs of well-known musicals, as well as world-premiere productions by the next generation of writers and composers. Given the proximity to New York City, ACT of CT has access to top theatre talent and professionals.
ArtFul is a non-profit, community-based initiative, founded by Dee Dee Perrone Colabella. “Our mission is to help as many artists as possible to overcome the obstacles in their way. Artful works to empower artists to further their craft, continue their education, and have access to the resources and environment to produce and show their work.”

The church was first gathered in Ridgefield just four years after the establishment of the town. Civic leaders in October 1712 successfully petitioned the Connecticut General Assembly for permission to levy a tax for "the settling and maintaining of the ministry in the said Town of Ridgefield." The Rev. Thomas Hauley, the first minister, also served as town clerk and school teacher. The first meeting house, on the town green, opened for worship in 1726.

Employees of the Prospector, referred to as Prospects, are encouraged to sparkle, shine, and transform their passions into professions.

The Ridgefield Conservatory of Dance, a 501(c)(3) non-profit dance school, is nationally recognized as a “distinguished, high achieving, pre-professional performing arts school” that “nurtures young dance artists in strong movement technique.” We are dedicated to educating & encouraging students to become knowledgeable, passionate, thinking artists.
The Ridgefield Guild of Artists began in 1974 with fourteen local artists who founded the Guild to create and exhibit their art. This original group has grown to several hundred members. The Guild is now organized as a not-for-profit organization and is governed by an elected board of directors. Membership includes artists who work in a range of media and are at all stages of development.
The Ridgefield High School Visual and Performing Arts Theater
The Ridgefield Historical Society’s purpose is to preserve, interpret, and foster public knowledge of Ridgefield’s historical, cultural, and architectural heritage.
Founded in 2001, the Ridgefield Historical Society (RHS) maintains state-of-the-art archives, which serve as the principal repository for Ridgefield’s historic documents, images, and artifacts. Most of RHS’s programs, exhibits, and events reference this extensive collection of over 10,000 items—and very often it is the inspiration for such programming.
The Ridgefield Independent Film Festival (RIFF) seeks to make the world a more compassionate place through the sharing of stories through cinema. We celebrate independent films and filmmakers from around the world who create films that enlighten, entertain, and inspire moviegoers through compelling visual storytelling.

Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra is a professional orchestra with the mission to enrich the cultural life of the citizens of Ridgefield and surrounding communities by presenting musical performances of the highest artistic quality. The RSO also strives to increase the appreciation for music through active community involvement and innovative educational programs.
In 1965, a handful of Ridgefield residents banded together to form a small theater group dedicated to providing community theater. This not-for-profit organization grew into the Ridgefield Workshop for the Performing Arts, Inc. Housed in a rustic converted dairy barn leased from the town of Ridgefield, the Workshop continues to produce an ongoing series of comedies, dramas, and musicals. We maintain a production schedule of four shows per year, with performers chosen through open auditions. The cast and crew of every show run the gamut from raw amateurs to seasoned professionals. We also have workshops for kids.

Founded by art collector and fashion designer Larry Aldrich in 1964, The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum is one of the oldest contemporary art museums in the United States. The mission of the Western Connecticut Youth Orchestra is to educate and inspire young musicians through the study and performance of classical and contemporary musical works, participation in enrichment activities, and engagement with the community.
Our program provides an opportunity to develop artistry and technique, as well as a profound understanding and appreciation of instrumental music. Our members are challenged not only to perform at the highest level, but also to build character, creativity and self-esteem, with music as their guide.
